#uStats — Movie Monday, Top Box Office Hits, July 31 - Aug 2, 2015
This past weekend brought in a new month, and $1.4MM more in week-over-week box office revenue for the top 5 grossing films. Jam-packed with gasp-worthy action and gut-busting comedies, Minions, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, Ant-Man, Vacation and Pixels were able to accumulate a reasonable 93.7K engagements collectively on Facebook and Twitter. But, as always we took a look at each film's accounts to analyze who got fingers fumbling on social.
The Social Totals
The Minions managed to maneuver their way back to the top spot for total reactions, using their maniacal cuteness to generate 32.8K engagements for a 35.0% market share. Newcomer Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation came into the social fold with guns blazing, sitting pretty in 'Cruise-control' with 26.6K engagements for a 28.4% market share to snag the runner up spot. </br>
The Minions certainly stirred up social engagements in terms of volume, but which flick was first in getting the most likes, comments, shares, retweets and favorites across their entire audience? In this category, fans were clearly in the mood to talk about humourous roadtrip antics, as Vacation's audience generated 461.5 engagements per 1K users. Ant-Man also managed to get enormous engagement from their following, with 64.6 engagements generated per 1K users to take the number 2 spot.
